Color : deep garnet-red
Nose : meaty (fur, game), toasted oak, leather, with hints of dried currant.
Palate : well crafted, great balance in the aromatic array which unwinds harmoniously right up to the finish ; then the tannins appear before giving way to liquorice aromas that linger on a refreshing finish. A sappy, attractive wine.
Color : garnet-red with an amber hue
Nose : beautiful aromatic array with dried fig, raisin and tobacco; very complex with a touch of minerality.
Palate : well-balanced with an harmonious backbone and an elegant texture ; jammy black fruits mingle with liquorice in a long, refreshing finish. A deep and intense wine.

The world's most talented oenologist has just released his first premium Argentine red. Called Yacochuya (pronounced Yak-co-chew-ya), this 100% old vine (60 years) Malbec comes from a mountainside vineyard situated at 2,470 meters! The 1999 Yacochuya (91 points, $30.00) has an opaque purple color, and a sensational bouquet of licorice, blue and blackberry jam intermixed with charcoal and spice. The wine is full-bodied, dense, and thick, with vibrant acidity for definition. This is a stunning Malbec. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.

Jay Miller - erobertparker.com #184 – Aug 2009
The 2005 Yacochuya (100% Malbec) spent 18 months in new French oak. It is a saturated opaque purple color with a brooding bouquet of mineral, wood smoke, lavender, incense, black cherry, and plum. Voluptuous and powerful on the palate, the wine is dense, rich, succulent, and impeccably balanced. It demands another 6-8 years of cellaring and will offer prime drinking through 2025, if not longer. I tasted a component tank sample of the 2007 and it, too, was spectacular.

Wine Advocate #180 – Dec 2008
The 2006 Yacochuya is a wine that number crunchers will despise (16% alcohol, 4.09pH) and that hedonists will go ga-ga over. Made from 100% Malbec and aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak, it offers up a veritable cocktail of prunes, plums, and even dates that leapfrogs from the glass. Full-bodied, fat, and succulent, to say that it has gobs of flavor is an understatement. Somewhere in this wine there is enough structure and baby fat to carry it through 2020. It's akin to getting a full-body massage through the mouth.
